Story of the Day: Perfumed Fraud
Wei Xiaobao, a terrible painter, scams his way into a palace art competition. His painting of a crane looks like a distressed chicken. Just as he's about to be arrested, a broken perfume vial in his sleeve saves him. He convinces the Princess it’s a "multi-sensory masterpiece." He wins, but gets trapped in a life of producing fragrant art. His studio becomes a chaotic mess. During a royal appraisal, he creates a stench so foul he is forced to confess his fraud. The Princess, far from angry, finds him hilariously entertaining. She makes him her Royal Jester, decreeing his job is now to make her laugh. He gets a jester hat with a golden plaque bearing the number "7348," and promptly recites a strange mantra.
